SALARY: £37,740 rising to £50,320 per annum on completion of a focused training period, lasting just a few months

This is a role of purpose—it’s not just about changing engines, repairing traction motors, or making internal repairs and general maintenance—you’ll be contributing to our overall mission of improving rail travel.

- Team Working: Collaborating with a dedicated Engineering Team to maintain and service our traction and rolling stock to the highest standards
- Building Relationships: Communicating with colleagues to share updates and coordinate maintenance efforts, keeping everyone in sync and informed.
- Keeping Things on Track: Conducting maintenance, servicing, and repairs with expertise, ensuring our trains are safe and ready for service every day.
- Proactively Diagnosing: Using your expertise in diagnostic software to fault find, problem solve, and carry out root cause analysis to prevent future issues, focusing on our electric units.
- Communicating Clearly: Relaying essential information to apprentices and colleagues to foster a culture of teamwork and safety.
- Focusing on Safety: With concentration being your greatest ally, you'll adhere to safety regulations and conduct assessments, ensuring a clean and secure working environment.
Are you:
- Technically Skilled? With engineering qualifications to NVQ level 3 in Engineering. An electrical bias would be preferable.
- Sharp Focused? The ability to troubleshoot in a fast-paced, technical environment.
- Â Flexible? To adapt to the varying demands of train maintenance and operational needs.
- Proactive? With the initiative and motivation and drive to lead by example and uphold the highest safety standards.
-  Motivated? The drive to be the engine behind our operations, carrying out maintenance and repairs that keep our trains moving forward.
- Â Experienced? The ability to use diagnostic software to proactively identify and resolve issues and conducting root cause analysis. Alongside mentoring apprentices and contribute to our mission of improving rail travel for all.
Please note this role is safety critical and is subject to Rail Safety & Standards Board (RSSB) regulations. You MUST meet the following criteria for this position, or your application will be automatically rejected:
- Currently live within a 45-minute car journey from the station you work from.
- Be at least 18 years of age at the time of application.
- Pass the safety critical medical assessment, including drugs and alcohol screening.
- Not have defective colour vision
